Vivid Sydney 2017 – Music Line Up
Music aficionados take note! The 2017 Vivid Sydney festival is more than just a bunch of lights! This annual outdoor festival is bringing you a music lineup to die for!
First launched in 2009 as a celebration of smart lighting and energy efficiency, the Vivid Sydney festival has grown from lights to so much more. Vivid 2017 promises to be an exciting experience involving interactive installations of light, art and technology. Oh, and there will be music. So much music.
This year’s music lineup offers something for just about everyone. US indie folk band, Fleet Foxes has garnered much interest with four exclusive shows performed in the Opera House. These performances, their only ones in Australia in 2017, will debut new material from their latest album.
Fans of electronic won’t miss out either. French electronic duo, Air will be performing in Australia for the first time in nearly a decade. Visitors can hear their otherworldly sounds over two nights, May 30-31. As if that weren’t enough, award-winning British electronic group, Goldfrapp will be playing an exclusive show at Carriageworks on June 2. Another treat for this year’s Vivid 2017, Australia’s own The Avalanches will be performing their debut album, Since I Left You, in its entirety.
If jazz is more your style, five time Grammy Award winner Dianne Reeves will be treating listeners to some of her best works, including some from her recent award-winning Beautiful Life album. Want still more Jazz? Other featured performers include Vanessa Wagner, Nai Palm and the Greg Coffin Trio.
With all that music, who has time to fight the crowds to catch the beautiful visual displays? Rather than pushing through the more than two million visitors estimated to attend this year’s events, why not see the beauty from the comfort of a cruise?
Sensational Sydney Cruises offers up an alternative way of participating in Vivid 2017. Guests can join a cruise with no more than 16 passengers and view the stunning projections from the water. Cruising through the lovely Sydney Harbour, the projections along the shores of Fort Denison, Circular Quay, The Rocks, Walsh Bay and Darling Harbour will be visible. Instead of jostling crowds, guests on these cruises will sit in comfort on a private 52-foot Motor Cruiser, whilst enjoying light canapés and unlimited beverages.
Want a little more privacy still? No problem. Sensational Sydney Cruises also offers a private cruise option for parties up to 30 people.
So after the music, head on down to Walsh Bay Wharf Pier to enjoy the spectacular festival scenes in style.
