Vivid Sydney 2017 – Bigger Than Ever

With more lights, more music, more art and more territory covered than ever before, Sydney’s Vivid 2017 festival promises to take things to a whole new level!

Vivid, an annual outdoor festival of light, art and creativity, has been an increasingly popular event in Sydney since its inception in 2009. Originally conceptualised as a way to celebrate energy efficiency, the event has increased its reach each year.

2017 promises to continue this tradition. Event organisers expect Vivid 2017 to be bigger and better than ever before. This year’s festival will feature bold new installations, including a new take on the Vivid Light Walk with giant eyeballs and virtual sharks. More than 250 performing artists, ranging from electronic duo, Goldfrapp to indie folk band, Fleet Foxes, are expected to perform. This year the event will even spread over to the trendy Barangaroo district.

Even the Opera House sails are getting a bold new design this year. The traditional light projections displayed on the Opera House sails are the work of talented film director, Ash Bolland. This year’s show is called “Audio Creatures.” It will feature a menagerie of optical animals meandering across the city’s most famous landmark.

In 2016, Vivid drew a crowd of 2.3 million people from all over the world. The festival is now recognised as the biggest and most important festival in Australia. With the new additions to this year’s festival and creative new installations, event organisers expect this year to be even more well-attended.

With so many crowds, some might wonder how they can best enjoy the festivities. For many, dealing with the throngs of visitors might detract from the artistically stimulating experience. For those people, there may be a better approach to participating in Vivid 2017.

Sensational Sydney Cruises offers a special Vivid festival harbour cruise tour. These cruises offer an alternative to pushing through the pedestrian crowds on land. With these unique tours, guests can instead relax in comfort and let the lights and artistic installations spread out before them. Rather than crowds, Sensational Sydney Cruises guests will be able to appreciate the festival in more solitude. Each cruise has a maximum of only 30 passengers.

This unique approach to the Vivid festival offers guests two options: a scheduled Vivid Harbour Cruise or a private Vivid Harbour Cruise. Both options offer guests the comfort of viewing lights, projections and art installations from the comfort of a luxe 52-foot Motor Cruiser, whilst enjoying light canapés and unlimited beverages. However, the scheduled cruise departs nightly at prearranged times and carries a maximum of 16 passengers. The private cruise, on the other hand, can be custom-booked and can carry up to 30 passengers in your private party.

This year, skip the crowds. Instead, enjoy Australia’s biggest and best festival from the comfort of a Sensational Sydney Vivid Harbour Cruise!
