Guide to Sydney for Families

You’ve finally made it to Sydney with the kids in tow. They actually put up with the long flights without too much drama but now they are ready to tear the city apart with their high energy. So, in which direction do you point the family when exploring Sydney with kids?

Sydney is full of great adventures which will appeal to the entire family. For example, why not spend some time at Luna Park? This historical amusement park is located at Milsons Point on the northern shore of Sydney Harbour. With rides and entertainment suitable for just about everyone, ranging from carnival games to the Wild Mouse Rollercoaster, no one will feel bored here.

Or perhaps your clan would enjoy a day at the zoo! The Taronga Zoo gets your family up close and personal with the animal kingdom. Take in the entire animal alphabet from apes to zebras, or let out your own inner monkey by participating in the Taronga Zoo Wild Ropes course. In fact, even the ferry ride required to access the zoo is great fun, particularly for the kids. And if there just aren’t enough hours in the day, stay the night! With the Roar and Snore program, guests can stay over night in the zoo’s safari style tents right there at the Taronga Zoo Western Plains.

When you need to cool the family down, another option is Wet ’n’ Wild Sydney. Grab the sunblock and the towels and spend the day splashing around this Sydney Water Park. The thrill seekers in your family will enjoy the exhilarating slide rides, such as T5 and Bombora. Your younger set will feel safe while playing at Nickelodeon Beach. And for those adults wanting to simply kick back, grab a float ring and relax on Boomerang Bay. You can even learn to surf here at the Surf Deck, a continuous wave attraction.

Of course, you can’t plan a family trip to Sydney without getting out on the water. Take the family out for a cruise of Sydney Harbour. With Sensational Sydney Cruises, you can choose between packaged cruises and private chartered cruises. You can enjoy a meal onboard, learn more about Sydney’s history and beauty from experienced and knowledgeable captains and you can even spend some time in the water! Cruises range from a couple hours to longer programs. Kids will enjoy the excitement of an adventure at sea, while adults will enjoy the finely appointed amenities onboard. Your family is guaranteed to end the day happy.
